Omar Abdelhalim, a 22-year-old Sterling man who is no stranger to police, was arrested after deputies say he led deputies on a high-speed chase, crashed through the front of a gated community, and ran into a home before being taken into custody, according to the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 29, when a sheriff’s deputy on patrol on Route 3 spotted a driver speeding through the area, officials said. When the deputy activated emergency equipment to catch up, Abdelhalim immediately accelerated and began to elude police.
A pursuit was initiated along Carrico Mills Road and Germanna Highway, but deputies later terminated the chase near the Orange County line around Walmart, the sheriff’s office said…
