Leesburg Man Charged After Attacking Family with Crossbow, Knife

A man from Leesburg faces charges of domestic assault and battery and attempted malicious wounding charges after detectives say he tried to attack family members with a crossbow and a knife.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Camelot Place near Leesburg on Christmas Day around 3:39 p.m. after a man called police about his son punching him in the face. According to an affidavit, the assault happened after an argument over Christmas gifts.

Two other members of the family attempted to intervene, at which point the suspect, a 36-year-old Leesburg man, threatened all three people with a knife. The victims locked the suspect in the house’s basement and called 911, according to the affidavit. While deputies responded, the suspect allegedly fired a crossbow at the basement door multiple times. The arrows didn’t go through the door…
