Loudoun Sheriff’s Office Released Over 250 Inmates to ICE In 2025

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office released 253 people from its Adult Detention Center to federal immigration agents during 2025.

Sheriff’s Office Director of Media Relations and Communications Tom Julia said Monday that LCSO held 1,238 non-US citizens in the ADC last year, 419 of whom had detention orders issued for them by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE picked up 253 people.

The pick-ups are part of the 287(g) agreement between the Sheriff’s Office and ICE, which allows LCSO to hold people slated to be released from the county jail after their sentences are up to give ICE time to take custody of them. The agreement has generated significant controversy…
