Montgomery County halts surveillance robot program, citing minority community concerns

WASHINGTON (7News) — The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will not move forward with plans to use a surveillance bot to monitor and deter crimes in area parking garages.

Emily DeTitta, MCDOT Strategic Communications Manager, said the decision came from community concerns.

“Considering the current climate, knowing that our community has a heightened apprehension towards the government, especially among our minority population, we have decided not to move forward with this pilot program,” DeTitta said…
