Pizza Hut Replacement Viva Mexico Plans For Late Winter Opening

Viva Mexico Bar & Grill is moving closer to opening in Gaithersburg, replacing a former Pizza Hut location along Woodfield Road.

The restaurant is scheduled to appear before Montgomery County’s Alcoholic Beverage Services for a liquor license hearing on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10am, a key step ahead of its planned opening at the end of February. “Coming soon” signage has been posted since the fall at the future home of Viva Mexico Bar & Grill, located at 18509 Woodfield Rd. The space previously housed a Pizza Hut, which closed in 2025.

According to the restaurant, Viva Mexico Bar & Grill aims to be an upscale dining destination in Gaithersburg, offering authentic Mexican cuisine elevated with modern Latin American influences.
