Four Amazon Fresh grocery stores in Montgomery County will close Sunday as part of a nationwide closure of stores by the Seattle-based e-commerce giant amid its shift to focusing on grocery delivery and expanding Whole Foods Market, Amazon announced Tuesday.
The county is home to two Amazon Fresh stores in Chevy Chase at 5463 Wisconsin Ave. and 8525 Chevy Chase Lake Terrace, a Gaithersburg location at 15790 Shady Grove Road and a Silver Spring store at 12263 Prosperity Drive in the White Oak Town Center. The White Oak location will close less than a year after opening in late March.
Those four are among the 57 Amazon Fresh stores that the company operates across the country, the Associated Press reported Tuesday. Amazon also plans to close its Amazon Go stores, which are cashierless convenience stores. There are none in the county…
