Ashburn residents displaced after pipe burst floods apartment complex

ASHBURN, Va. — A pipe burst at an apartment complex in Ashburn, forcing the evacuation of dozens of residents on Monday night.

The incident occurred at The Woods at Birchwood Apartments, a complex catering to residents aged 55 and older. Loudoun County Fire and Rescue officials evacuated residents of 36 units after water began pouring from the building’s electrical room around 6 p.m. While authorities have not confirmed the cause with 100% certainty, the burst followed a weekend of sustained freezing temperatures in the area.
