Police: Frederick driver was going 70 in 45 mph zone when he struck, killed pedestrian

GERMANTOWN, Md. — Montgomery County police say a Frederick man was driving at least 25 miles per hour over the speed limit when he struck and killed a pedestrian in Germantown.

Investigators say the vehicle driven by 27-year-old Dione Jordan was traveling at 70 miles per hour after accelerating to beat a red light, before hitting 34-year-old Branden Corey Williams.

The crash happened near the intersection of Frederick and Ridge Road at around 7:35 a.m. on August 20, about 40 feet south of the nearest crosswalk…
