Americans in Wartime Experience sues Hylton Foundation in Prince William over property dispute

The National Museum of Americans in Wartime has filed a lawsuit against the Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation after the foundation promised in 2012 to “unconditionally” fund the museum’s development on 67 acres in eastern Prince William County, the suit said.

The Prince William-based museum is known for its annual “Tank Farm open house” at the Nokesville Tank Farm, which took place every year until 2025.

The Dale City-based Hylton Foundation officially halted discussions with the museum for its new, expanded site in Dale City on Dec. 16, 2024, through a memo provided via counsel, according to the lawsuit…
