Signage has begun coming down at the longtime McDonald’s in Derwood as the store prepares to close permanently on March 15th, though no replacement tenant has been announced for the site.
Derwood resident Irene Johnson shared a video showing workers removing exterior McDonald’s signage from the building at 7200 Muncaster Mill Road in the Red Mill Shops shopping center. The removal comes ahead of the restaurant’s confirmed final day of operation on March 15.
As previously reported, McDonald’s confirmed the exact closing date earlier this year, ending a stretch that spans multiple fast-food eras at the site. Before becoming a McDonald’s in the mid-1980s, the building previously operated as both a Roy Rogers and a Hardee’s.
