19-year-old killed after crashing into tractor-trailer at I-66 rest area in Prince William County

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police have released the name of a man who died after he crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 66 in Prince William County over the weekend.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers responded to the reported crash on I-66 eastbound, about 0.3 miles west of Bull Run Drive, at around 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28.

There, an investigation found that a Toyota sedan had rear-ended a 2024 Kenworth 310 tractor that was legally parked at the rest stop before it burst into flames.

State police said the driver of the Toyota, Jose Daniel Rivera Quintana, 19, of Bristow, died at the scene just minutes after the crash.

Investigators noted that the 19-year-old was wearing a seatbelt and that the crash is not believed to be alcohol-related. However, police did determine that Quintana was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the Toyota, striking the parked tractor-trailer…
