LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va (7News) — After the Loudoun County Public School Board passed a motion last week making it clear they aren’t on board with Sheriff Mike Chapman’s proposal to add school resource officers (SROs) in elementary schools, Supervisor Juli Briskman is now planning on introducing a motion Monday evening to remove the funding for elementary SROs from the proposed budget, according to an email Briskman sent to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.
At a March 2 meeting, Briskman told the county’s DEI department that she hopes the board will not fund a large resource request (elementary SROs), and if that happens, other budget requests like more DEI positions could be funded.
The County Administrator already included funding in the proposed budget to fund school resource officers in elementary schools, something Briskman opposes, as do the five Democrats on the school board, including April Chandler and Anne Donohue…
