A gunman attempted to rob cash from the register at a Lake Ridge 7-Eleven early Monday, but took off with a basket of candy instead after the register jammed.
Officers responded to the store at 12417 Cape Cod Court off Hedges Run Drive at 12:07 a.m., where the employee reported a man approached the counter, produced a handgun and demanded the cash register be opened, said Prince William County police Sgt. Erin Noble in a news release.
When the register failed to open, the suspect snatched a basket containing candy before leaving the area on foot, Noble said. No injuries were reported…
