Oldest living horse in the world celebrated her birthday in Aldie, Virginia

ALDIE, Va. — In the rolling pastures of northern Virginia, a brown mare named Fancy is proving that age is much more than just a number.

Fancy, an American Quarter Horse residing at a retirement farm in Aldie, was officially recognized by Guinness World Records in February as the oldest living horse in the world. On Wednesday night, she celebrated her 38th birthday, a milestone she shared with her lifelong owner, Paige Blumer, who turned 34 the same day.

For Blumer, a Leesburg native, the world record is a formal acknowledgement of a bond that has spanned nearly three decades. She has owned Fancy since she was 8 years old…
