Over one hundred people have been turned over to federal immigration authorities from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center so far this year.
In a statement, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Director of Media Relations Tom Julia told Loudoun Now that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued 194 immigration detainers for inmates being held at the ADC between January 1 and April 5.
Detainers are issued by ICE when a person already being held at a local jail is subject to an immigration warrant. Julia said the inmates were all being held at the ADC on “charges unrelated to immigration status” when ICE issued the detainers…
