Mixed-Use Project Eyed at Former Piano Company Site in Leesburg

Leesburg’s Board of Architectural Review in March took a preliminary look at plans to construct a mixed-use project on the site of the former Piano Company building at 206 E. Market St.

The BAR earlier approved plans for an office building on the downtown lot, but the new proposal includes potential for an inn and restaurant. While no approvals have been given for that proposal, the BAR gave early input.

During a pre-application meeting in March, Preservation Manager Lauren Murphy said that the current property owner, after abandoning the office building project, is looking for a new owner. Developer Kevin Ash, who has taken up the mantle of designing a new project, said he intends to construct a four-story multi-use building. The preliminary proposal would have parking and a 1,260-square-foot restaurant on the first floor; an inn on the second floor; office and residential uses on the third floor and full residential on the top floor…
