Plein air painter Christine Raymond will debut a new solo exhibition, “4 the Love of Virginia,” showcasing landscapes inspired by more than a decade of working outdoors.
The exhibition will be at the ARTfactory in Manassas from April 22 through May 31. It features work created over two years as Raymond traveled through Virginia’s five major geographic regions: the Coastal Plain (Tidewater), Piedmont, Blue Ridge Mountains, Valley and Ridge and Appalachian Plateau. The collection reflects the distinct characteristics of each area and the influence they have had on her artistic approach.
About 75% of the pieces were painted on-site, a hallmark of Raymond’s plein air practice. The remaining works – larger oil and cold wax paintings – were developed in the studio from field studies and offer a more expressionistic interpretation of the scenes that most resonated with her…
