A 37-year-old man is in jail after allegedly running from the police and assaulting an officer on Sunday.
In a statement, the Leesburg Police Department said Ervin P. Lansdown Jr., 37, of Big Stone Gap, was arrested after officers were called to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE for report of a man banging on someone’s door.
When officers arrived, Lansdown fled on foot and was apprehended after a short chase. One officer was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained while apprehending Lansdown, who police said “actively resisted.” The officer has since been released from the hospital…
