The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted 9-1 on Tuesday to adopt a $5.7 billion fiscal year 2027 budget, with Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity casting the lone vote against the overall spending plan.
On April 28, Supervisors voted 8-2 to reduce the real estate tax rate during, with Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn and Herrity voting against the cut. Alcorn opposed any reduction to the rate, while Herrity argued that there should be more reductions.
“Affordability is not a priority of this board,” Herrity said. “Over the last four years, the board has increased spending by $868M, while it celebrated cutting $124M — including many long-standing county programs.”…
