Chevy Chase, MD (JK) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash on the Capital Beltway in Montgomery County and searching for the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene.
Troopers from the Rockville Barrack responded shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday to the outer loop of the Beltway east of Connecticut Avenue for reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Investigators say the victim, who has not yet been positively identified, had exited a work van parked on the left shoulder of the inner loop and attempted to cross the outer loop travel lanes. Police believe the man was carrying a gas can when he was struck by passing vehicles…
