Slava Cafe & Bakery Bringing Ukrainian Flavors to Downtown Asheville

Slava Cafe & Bakery is preparing to open at 37 Wall St. in downtown Asheville, with owner and chef Svitlana Eadie targeting a late July to early August debut, according to reporting by the Citizen Times.

The upcoming cafe marks Eadie’s first brick-and-mortar venture after years of operating Svitlana’s Kitchen, a catering company specializing in Eastern European-inspired cuisine. According to the Citizen Times, Eadie has called Asheville home for the past two decades and plans to use the new space to share dishes influenced by her Ukrainian roots.

Slava will serve breakfast and lunch Wednesday through Sunday, offering a menu that blends traditional recipes with contemporary touches. Planned offerings include cabbage rolls, Ukrainian-style potato pancakes known as deruny, crepes, fresh breads, pastries, desserts, and a variety of coffee and espresso beverages.
