Renew NC Opens $55 Million Helene Infrastructure Grant Round in Western North Carolina

The North Carolina Department of Commerce has opened the first round of a new infrastructure grant program that will make $55 million available to local governments working to recover from Hurricane Helene.

Applications for the Renew NC Community Infrastructure Program opened July 6 and are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 8.

Buncombe County is among 28 eligible counties in western North Carolina, putting county government and eligible municipalities and public authorities in the Asheville area within the program’s footprint. Projects inside the City of Asheville, however, are not eligible for this state-administered round because the city has its own federal Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery allocation…
