A North Carolina man will spend 11 years in prison for defrauding customers who spent more than $2.5 million on dream log cabins that never left their dreams.
Jason Nathaniel Speier never “successfully completed a single project,” U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson said in a news release announcing the Thursday sentencing. The 43-year-old from Arden, which south of Asheville, promised European-sourced log cabin kits that his general contractors turned into turnkey residences. But neither Speier nor his company was licensed as a general contractor, and he did not have a supply of European log cabin kits, Ferguson said.
