Friends of Asheville Muni is using the return of PGA TOUR golf to Western North Carolina to raise support for Asheville’s city-owned municipal course. The nonprofit is participating in Birdies for Charity during the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville.
The tournament will run Sept. 17-20 at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. Donations benefiting Friends of Asheville Muni through the charity program must be completed by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, placing the fundraising deadline one day before competition begins.
The campaign arrives while Asheville Municipal Golf Course continues a long recovery from Hurricane Helene. The course’s back nine has reopened for play, but the heavily damaged front nine remains closed to golf as the city and its partners work toward reconstruction…
