The Town of Weaverville is moving forward with a salvage logging and forest restoration project on approximately 300 acres of town-owned property that sustained extensive damage during Helene.

Somewhere between 175 and 200 acres have “a tremendous amount of trees down,” limiting access for emergency vehicles and raising wildfire risk, according to Assistant Town Manager Jennifer Jackson.
