ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Asheville Police Department reports one person was arrested and another is wanted in connection with a shooting that took place in April.
Officers said they responded to a residence on Atkinson Street on April 26 around 3:29 p.m. A shooting victim was taken to Mission Hospital and forensic technicians found multiple shell casings and several vehicles damaged by gunfire.
The Asheville Police Department, along with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, State Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 20-year-old Lamon Tyrik Smith, Jr. on Tuesday, officials said.
Smith is facing the following charges:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury
- Possessing a weapon of mass destruction
- Attempted first degree murder
- Felony conspiracy
- Injury to personal property
Police said they are also searching for 16-year-old Danvonte Pearson, who will be charged as an adult. He is described as five feet, eight inches, with short black hair and a tattoo above his right eye. He is considered armed and dangerous.
He is facing the following charges:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury
- Possessing a weapon of mass destruction
- Attempted first degree murder
- Conspiracy to commit first degree murder
- Injury to personal property
