Asheville man sentenced after gun linked to four 2025 shootings

ASHEVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – An Asheville man was sentenced to 21 months in prison after a firearm he illegally possessed was linked to four shootings in the city, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina said.

Zyon Zashawn Jacobs, 21, was also sentenced to three years of supervised release after his prison term.

Court documents reveal Jacobs was on probation for 2024 state convictions for possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana; common-law robbery; and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

In November 2025, law enforcement officers searching an Asheville apartment seized two Glock 9mm pistols. One was fitted with a machine gun conversion device, commonly called a “Glock switch.”…
