Black Mountain mayor and son grow free vegetables for community, donations

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WLOS) — A small plot of land along Blue Ridge Road in Black Mountain is helping put fresh vegetables on local tables, and it is being tended by Mayor Mike Sobol and his son.

The garden, filled with kale, mustard greens and turnips, is open to anyone who wants to stop by and pick produce. Some of the harvest is also donated to Bounty & Soul, a local nonprofit that works to address food insecurity.
