GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Your Sunday afternoon looks dramatically different from this morning. After a wet and gusty start to the day, drier air moves in and the remnants of Isaias exit our region by midday.
Sunday Afternoon & Evening: The Turnaround Begins
Showers and scattered thunderstorms have moved out of the area and we look ahead to improving conditions through the day. A spotty light shower or two is possible as the center of the remnants of Isaias passes by to our north during the day, but nothing heavy like what we saw Saturday and Sunday morning. Gusty winds from the southwest pick up through the afternoon — expect gusts around 20-25 mph — but that’s actually a good sign. It means the storm system is moving out and fresher air is arriving.
Temperatures creep to the low 70s all across the Western Carolinas as the sun breaks through the clouds this afternoon. By Sunday night, expect mostly clear skies across the region with lows dropping to the upper 50s to low 60s. Northwest winds taper off by evening, but the mountains hold onto gusts near 20 mph.
Monday: Wind Lingers for the Mountains, Sunshine Returns
Pack your sunglasses. Monday is full of sunshine. The Upstate reaches the low 80s while the mountains top out in the mid-70s. Patchy fog clears out of mountain valleys by late morning, but otherwise it’s a gorgeous fall day…
