Western NC man arrested following police chase in Mooresville with reported stolen truck

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Buncombe County man was arrested on several felony charges Saturday following a police chase along in Mooresville involving a reported stolen vehicle.

According to the Mooresville Police Department, officers received an alert on a Dodge truck reported stolen out of Lincoln County that was traveling westbound on East Plaza Drive (N.C. 150) north of downtown. MPD officers then attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused to stop and continued west on Plaza Drive reaching speeds close to 60 mph.

Officers say upon reaching the intersection of Plaza Drive and McLelland Avenue, the stolen truck struck two uninvolved vehicles then continued on Plaza and struck a third uninvolved vehicle. It then became inoperable near Loc Doc Place due to the collisions.

The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Noah Alexander Zolnoski, was taken into custody without further incident.
Zolnoski, of Weaverville, was charged with :

  • Felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle,
  • Felony speeding to elude arrest,
  • Felony leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, and
  • Reckless driving to endanger, a misdemeanor
