Neighbor recalls horrific night of Evans Road shooting and bravery of cops

HENDERSONVILLE – Residents along Evans Road were on edge the night of Feb. 4 and into the early-morning hours of Feb. 5 after hearing gunshots and seeing the flashing lights of several Henderson County Sheriff’s Office vehicles.

Brandon Sours said he heard the first gunshots at approximately 8:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Sours and his fiancée, Michelle Fifer, live across the road from where the gunshots were fired.

“There were like six to eight very loud gunshots. It was about three minutes or so afterwards when a fire/rescue truck pulled down our side road where our garage is at,” Sours told the Times-News on Feb. 5. “He turned off his lights and then backed down the driveway. I could see him right outside of my bathroom window.”

At 9:39 p.m., the sheriff’s office sent out an alert to the public on its social media channels about an incident with an armed individual along Evans Road in the Crab Creek Community, urging residents there to stay inside with their doors locked.

Sours said he knew something big was going on after those first gunshots were fired an hour before the alert was posted.
