The City of Asheville Homelessness Division is currently hosting a series of educational sessions on homelessness, led by Debbie Alford, a Homeless Strategy Specialist. The series includes three community education sessions addressing different aspects of homelessness.

The February 2024 series is underway, but registration for the remaining sessions is still open. The second session, ‘Understanding Solutions to Homelessness,’ is scheduled for February 13, 2024, and the third session, ‘Personal Response to Homelessness,’ will take place on February 20, 2024. These sessions are held at the Goodwill Career Center from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Registration for the March 2024 series is also open. The first session, ‘Understanding Homelessness,’ is set for March 8, 2024, with the following sessions on March 15 and March 22. These sessions will be held at the Skyland/South Buncombe Library from noon to 1:00 p.m.

The series offers community members the chance to learn about the causes of homelessness, potential solutions, and ways to collaborate with local agencies. It serves as a resource for those seeking to understand and address the issue of homelessness in Asheville. Participants can gain a deeper understanding of the problem and learn how they can contribute to the solution.
