Nearly 60 shelter animals rescued from NC mountains, brought to Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Nearly 60 dogs and cats need forever homes after being transported from shelters in North Carolina’s mountains.

Dozens of them have come in over the past couple of days from Asheville.

“I think they’re a little stressed, which is completely understandable, especially with all the travel and moving back and forth,” said K.C. Thompson with the Charlotte Humane Society.

Fifty-seven animals from western North Carolina are now calling the Charlotte Humane Society home.

“They’ve really all been pretty sweet so far, so we’re hoping after a couple days of decompression and getting settled in they’ll be ready to go to adoption,” said Thompson.

Queen City News crews were there Wednesday afternoon as workers unloaded 44 cats and dogs from Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville.

“Their building was in a flood zone and unfortunately their whole building has been destroyed in the flooding,” said Meg Doherty with the humane society.
