RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Christian Rangers formed five years ago with a goal of bringing like-minded Christian veterans together.
Recently, they took their mission to Burnsville in the North Carolina mountains after Helene hit.
“We literally drove all of our trailers here along with horses and ATVs and got to work,” said Micah Dunford.
Dunford says they each met at what was then called Fort Bragg many years ago. He describes them as nearly three dozen like-minded veterans who talk about their faith and still use their training.

“Just like Army Rangers jump in and set up a base at an airfield,” he said.
They have set up resources to help those affected by Hurricane Helene get some relief.
“We have been supplying about 500 people a day out of a parking lot in Burnsville, and in addition to that, we have eight supply posts around the town at churches and fire departments,” he said.
Dunford tells CBS 17 the work has been challenging, and the terrain has been unimaginable.
