BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – One wildlife biologist reports an increase in canine distemper cases in the Asheville area during the transition from summer to fall. According to an email, Miranda Turner, a wildlife health biologist with the Game and Furbearer Program,said samples from the program’s lab have confirmed reports of raccoons being impacted in Buncombe County are canine distemper, and “not another disease.”
