HENDERSONVILLE — Chuck McGrady, a longtime Republican known for his leadership on environmental issues, has been selected to join the transition team of North Carolina Gov.-elect Josh Stein, a Democrat.
“I have been appointed to the transition team — actually, one part of the team, the Department of Environmental Quality, and that has responsibility for interviewing and making recommendations for the Secretary of DEQ and other positions within the Department of Environmental Quality,” McGrady told the Hendersonville Times-News Nov. 15 via phone.
He declined to share names of people being considered for positions.
McGrady, 71, is an attorney and former summer camp owner. He served 10 years in the state Legislature and on the Henderson County Commission and Flat Rock Town Council. He has been president of Friends of DuPont Forest, Conserving Carolina, and the Sierra Club’s national organization. He also incorporated the Friends of the Ecusta Trail and is an at-large member on the N.C. Board of Transportation.
