A much-anticipated winter storm arrived in North Carolina Wednesday morning, Feb. 19, spreading rain, ice and snow starting at the South Carolina border as early as 7 a.m. and reaching the Triangle before lunchtime.
Light snow began falling in Sanford, 45 miles southwest of Raleigh, around 10:30 a.m. and was in Raleigh soon after.
Who gets what? Generally, the National Weather Service says , the northern part of the state, along the Virginia border, will see the heaviest snowfall, with 3 to 6 inches possible along the northernmost section of the Interstate 95 corridor.
