RALEIGH, N.C. (WECT) – Rep. Brenden Jones of Columbus County filed a bill in the state House of Representatives Friday morning that seeks to eliminate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs in state and local governments, and ensure no state or public money is used in any DEI programs or initiatives.
Rep. Jones is one of four primary sponsors of House Bill 171, which says:
No State agency shall promote, support, fund, implement, or maintain workplace DEI programs, policies, or initiatives, including, but not limited to, using DEI in State government hirings and employment; maintaining dedicated DEI staff positions or offices; or offering or requiring diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training.…
