Wildfire updates: Rain helps with suppression efforts

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Rain over the Black Cove Fire area Monday helped crews take advantage of reduced fire activity and wet conditions to strengthen containment lines. The damp weather is expected to continue aiding firefighting efforts.

With increased containment, crews are also prioritizing suppression repair efforts to prevent accelerated erosion caused by heavy rainfall, the North Carolina Forest Service said.
