Privateers cap sweep of UNC Asheville behind brilliant Longshore start

NEW ORLEANS – Zach Longshore was brilliant for five shutout innings and Bryce Calloway picked up his eighth save of the year as the New Orleans Privateers (19-15) held off the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs 3-2 on Sunday at Maestri Field.

The Bulldogs (11-23) got the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the ninth inning. However, Calloway induced a pair of ground balls that ended the game. The first was handled by Aiden Torrez who had two assists in the ninth inning. The final out was recorded when Collin Loupe ranged to his left on a ground ball, which helped put the finishing touches on a 4-0 week.

Longshore set the tone by exemplifying pinpoint command. He threw 71 pitches and struck out 11 batters while only allowing one hit and one walk. The strikeout total was the most for Longshore this season and tied the most by a Privateer in 2025 (Grant Edwards-11 vs. Northwestern State)…
