NORTH CAROLINA (WLOS) — Baptists on Mission has been in Western North Carolina since day one of Hurricane Helene recovery, and their goal is to rebuild 1,000 homes in the mountains.
Richard Brunson, Baptists on Mission’s director, said that Helene recovery is all about the people.
“God loves people and people are in need, and God wants to use volunteers to be his hands and feet. We want to attempt great things for God and his glory,” said Brunson.
The North Carolina-based organization is doing great work in the mountains, and they have the numbers to back it up:
- They served 500,000 hot meals at their feeding operations.
- They completed 5,000 jobs during the muck-out phase.
- Now, their goal is to complete 1,000 home rebuilds.
- 205 are already done, 269 are in progress and 526 are on the waiting list.
