Asheville — As part of continuous efforts to curb drug use and gun violence in a west Asheville neighborhood, officers from the Asheville Police Department made two arrests in different incidents Tuesday night.
On April 29, at around 6:09 p.m., APD officers were called to a complaint of a man carrying a gun on Cordova Street. Officers found a male, later identified as Justus Akeem Sloan (05/23/1995), throwing a gun in a trash can before going inside a nearby house. The gun was found by the officers, who also safely arrested Sloan.
Later that night, officers approached Nicholas D. J. Ivers (01/13/1998) in the vicinity of the 490 block of Haywood Road as part of proactive crime prevention. In addition to being arrested without incident, Ivers was discovered to be in possession of illegal substances…
