Weaverville woman turns self in after reported fatal hit-and-run of pedestrian

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A Weaverville woman is facing felony charges after turning herself in following a reported fatal hit-and-run that happened on April 8 in Asheville.

The Asheville Police Department said in a news release that Kerrigan Abrielle Hensley, 21, turned herself in on May 8. According to police reports, two pedestrians were struck by a car at the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Patton Avenue around 11:36 p.m. on April 8, and one of the pedestrians, Tyler Michael White, 37, died at the scene. The other pedestrian was taken to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Following an investigation and with consultation from the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, police charged Hensley with death by vehicle and two counts of felony hit and run.
