ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A North Asheville community is worried about the future of one of its properties: Those who live in Lake View Park, near Beaver Lake, don’t know what is going to be made of 550 Lakeshore Drive.
Some posts on social media have speculated about what could happen:
- “This will set a precedent and open a can of worms. I’m not anti-development, but I think we all agree Lakeshore Drive simply can’t handle this, and the covenants are set for a reason.”
- “Neighbors are writing city council, asking for this not to be rezoned and hearing/ meeting to be postponed due to LVP mtg planned for same night. This will not be a good investment in our neighborhood.”
- “He wants to build a subdivision in the middle of our neighborhood. He purchased two adjacent lots on Lakeshore Drive. He wants to tear down the existing home so that he can subdivide these properties into two lots and add roads and FORTY-EIGHT homes.”
Gary Rowe, who lives adjacent to the property, shared his thoughts with News 13.
“The first word we heard was that he was going to turn it into an intense development,” he said. “Most neighbors, and I included, objected to that.”…
