ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Strive Not to Drive Week — an annual initiative encouraging alternative methods of travel — is just around the corner, and local governments are offering a variety of ways for people to get involved.
From Friday, May 16, through Saturday, May 24, community programs across the mountains will encourage residents to bike, walk, take public transportation or carpool.
“Strive Not to Drive is all about challenging yourself to explore your community in more sustainable ways,” Sandy Broadwill, Transportation Demand Manager at the Land of Sky Regional Council, said in a statement. “More travel options increase the resiliency of our transportation network. Whether you’re a seasoned bike commuter or bus rider, or you’re just getting into the swing of it, there’s an activity for everyone.”…
