BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Buncombe County is recognizing Gun Violence Prevention and Awareness Month with informative events this June.
The Buncombe County Register of Deeds recorded 44 death certificates of someone who died by a gun in 2024, according to a county press release. The events this month will honor those lives and promote safe handling, proper storage and prevention of death by guns including suicides, accidents and gun violence.
The county said the events in June are part of the NC S.A.F.E. or Secure All Firearms Effectively, initiative to promote safe firearm storage across North Carolina.
