I-26 in Asheville reopens after multiple collisions cause brief closure

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — I-26 was temporarily closed Tuesday morning following a series of three collisions involving multiple vehicles, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP).

The first incident was a two-vehicle hit-and-run with no reported injuries, NCSHP said. The rear vehicle from the initial crash was struck by another vehicle, leading to a second collision. No injuries were reported in that crash.

While traffic was halted due to these two crashes, a third collision occurred in traffic, NCSHP said. This happened when a vehicle failed to slow down and collided with the concrete barrier and four other vehicles, resulting in one minor injury…
