Despite natural disasters and a pandemic, Smoky Mountain River Ranch is still thriving

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Through COVID-19, Tropical Storm Fred, and Hurricane Helene, flexibility has been the name of the game for Smoky Mountain River Ranch, a Haywood County farm sitting on 95 acres alongside the Pigeon River.

“My husband and I, when we bought this farm, it was a dairy farm,” Catherine Topel said.
