Temporary road between Chimney Rock and Bat Cave finally complete

CHIMNEY ROCK, N.C. — After months of detours and delays, drivers in western North Carolina are finally getting some relief nearly nine months after Hurricane Helene devastated the area and destroyed many of the mountain roads.

North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) crews have been working tirelessly, with dump trucks and heavy equipment constantly, on this temporary road.

Officials said a temporary access road is now open between Chimney Rock and Bat Cave. The new temporary road will make it possible for permanent repairs to take place and is expected to have minimal impact on localized traffic…
