Old Toll Road repairs underway months after Helene landslide

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville Public Works crews are rebuilding a section of Old Toll Road after a landslide triggered by Tropical Storm Helene left it impassable last fall.

The landslide occurred Sept. 27, 2024, near the intersection with Sunset Drive, following heavy rainfall from Helene. The storm caused an estimated $1 billion in damage to city-owned property.
